Based in Shanghai now, RUIbuilt was found by Chinese designer Rui Zhou in 2019 in New York. The first collection of RUIbuilt was Rui Zhou’s graduation thesis collection “CLOSE-UP”, showed in Parsons MFA in 2018. After that she launched her brand a year later with the intention of simply expressing herself and did the first ready-to-wear SS20 collection in 2019.

The Chinese designer is the Winner of the 2021 Karl Lagerfeld Prize by LVMH Prize.
Since its establishment in New York in 2019, RUIbuilt has been loved by global stars,
including Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Solange, Madison Beer, Hyuna, BLACKPINK Lisa, Jolin Tsai, Teyana Taylor, Tinashe, Rina Sawayama, Miquela, Emman Montavian, Mizuhara Kiko, Ouyang Nana, Zhou Dongyu, Ju Xiaowen, He Sui, Liu Boxin and others have all worn RUI costumes. At the same time, RUI continues to receive the attention and support of domestic and foreign media, including VOGUE Runway, VOGUE, VOGUE Italia, VOGUE China, i-D, DAZED, OFFICE, RUSSH, THE FACE, BOF, WWD...

RUIbuilt explores the duality of everything in a philosophical way.
Brand's work usually revolve around the theme of "in between", seeking for the relationship and spatial structure between skin and fabric, body and clothing, entity and boundary. The brand encourages each wearer to establish a unique and intimate relationship with clothing and find their own way of expression.
